Ministry of Care

Ministry of Care deals with the realities of life--illness, isolation, and other areas--that are part of our journey to deeper union with God. This ministry includes bringing the Eucharist to those who cannot come to church, praying, supporting, and comforting those in our parish who are in need. It works toward strengthening the spiritual well-being of our congregation by fostering a sense of Church family, understanding, and belonging. Over two hundred volunteers work in Ministry of Care at Holy Spirit. To receive or volunteer for any of these ministries, please contact the parish office.

Ministry of Care is accomplished in the following ways:
  • Provide assistance to persons in need who come to the parish
  • Prepare Christmas food hampers
  • Bring communion to the sick and homebound
  • Funeral preparations and bereavement follow-up
  • Ensure that when a parishioner is placed in a Senior Care Facility outside our parish boundaries we are in touch with the church in that area so they continue to receive the Eucharist and parish visits
  • Hospital visitations
  • Journey with parishioners who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness
  • Sunday morning transportation for seniors
  • Work with the Knights of Columbus to plan Mass of Remembrance in November for all families who have had a funeral of a loved one in our parish in the last year
  • Work with the Catholic Women's League for clothing and food drives
